Govt to Acquire Land for 16.51 kms Geratpur-Sanand and Botad-Ahmedabad Rail Project in Ahmedabad district

New Delhi: The Central Government, under the Ministry of Railways, has announced its intention to acquire land in the Ahmedabad district of Gujarat for the execution of a special railway project. The project, named “New BG Line Intersections 5 (Nos) Between Geratpur-Sanand and Botad-Ahmedabad Project (16.51 KM),” aims to establish new broad-gauge line intersections.
The notification, issued on March 21, 2025, and published in The Gazette of India, states that the decision was made after the government was satisfied that the land was required for public purposes.
The land to be acquired is located in various villages within the Sanand and Vejalpur Talukas, as well as in Ghatlodiya. The notification includes a detailed schedule specifying the survey numbers, land type, and area to be acquired.

Objections and Further Process
The notification also outlines the process for individuals who may have objections to the land acquisition. Any person interested in the said land can raise objections within thirty days from the date of publication of the notification.
These objections must be submitted in writing to the Competent Authority, namely, the Additional Special Land Acquisition Officer, at the Collector Office in Ahmedabad. The Competent Authority will provide an opportunity for the objector to be heard, either in person or through a legal practitioner. After considering the objections and conducting any necessary inquiries, the Competent Authority will issue an order to either allow or disallow the objections. The order issued by the Competent Authority will be final.
The detailed land plans and other relevant information are available for inspection at the office of the Competent Authority.
This acquisition is a significant step towards the development of railway infrastructure in Gujarat, and the government aims to ensure a fair and transparent process for all parties involved.
