50 Gujaratis safe in J&K post Ramban landslide incident, evacuation underway: Gujarat govt

Gandhinagar: All 50 passengers from Gujarat who were trapped in the landslide incident in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, are safe and sound, said Relief Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey.

Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, the Gujarat State Emergency Operations Center contacted the relevant authorities in Jammu and Kashmir and ensured the safety and security of the passengers from Gujarat.

Relief Commissioner Pandey provided further details, stating that the travel bus carrying the passengers from Gujarat is now in a safe zone, away from the landslide, and that all passengers are safe.

Army personnel have provided food, water, and other essentials to the passengers. Additionally, accommodation and meals have been arranged for all passengers at the Army camp.

There is no medical emergency among the passengers at present, and the Jammu and Kashmir administration is working to safely retrieve the travel bus trapped in the landslide, the Relief Commissioner added.

“Fifty Gujarati tourists, who were stranded due to a landslide in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, were on their way back from Srinagar. All of them are safe, and the state government is actively working to facilitate their return,” said Cabinet Minister Rushikesh Patel.

“No injuries have been reported. The government remains in continuous contact and is taking all necessary steps to ensure their safe return,” Patel added in a statement.
