Gandhinagar to Get 24×7 Water Supply From Nov 15

Gandhinagar: The state capital is set to take a major step toward becoming a smart city, as round-the-clock water supply will begin across all sectors from Saturday, November 15. With this, the long-standing system of a two-hour morning water supply by the Capital Planning Department will be discontinued.

After months of delays and technical hurdles, the Water Supply Board has completed the required infrastructure. A two-month trial run was conducted in both old and new sectors, during which the morning supply continued to prevent disruptions.

From November 15, all sectors will receive continuous water at a pressure of 40 lakh litres per hour. The city currently distributes 65 MLD of water, and this volume will remain unchanged.

As part of the new system, water meter–based billing will be implemented. Meters have been installed in every residential unit, and citizens will now receive monthly or bi-monthly bills based on consumption, replacing the earlier flat-rate structure.

To ensure smooth implementation, the Water Supply Board has issued sector-wise grievance redressal numbers for residents facing any issues.
