Lalo, the first ₹100 crore Gujarati film, to release in Hindi; Date announced
December 23, 2025
Gandhinagar: In a historic breakthrough for regional Indian cinema, Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate, the devotional drama that became the first Gujarati film to cross the ₹100 crore mark worldwide, is gearing up for its much-anticipated Hindi-dubbed release on January 9, 2026.
Directed by Ankit Sakhiya, the film – often affectionately called Laalo or Lalo – has already rewritten box office records since its original Gujarati theatrical release on October 10, 2025. Made on a modest budget of approximately ₹50 lakh to ₹1.2 crore, it started slow but exploded through unparalleled word-of-mouth, turning into a cultural phenomenon. By late November 2025, it had surpassed ₹100 crore globally, dethroning previous record-holder Chaal Jeevi Laiye (₹52 crore lifetime) and establishing itself as the highest-grossing Gujarati film of all time.
The story follows Laalo (played by Karan Joshi), a rickshaw driver haunted by his past, who finds himself trapped in a deserted farmhouse. There, he experiences profound visions of Lord Krishna (Shruhad Goswami), guiding him on a transformative journey of redemption, faith, and self-discovery. Supported by strong performances from Reeva Rachh and others, the film’s emotional depth, spiritual resonance, and heartfelt storytelling resonated deeply with audiences, leading to packed theaters, emotional outbursts, and even celebratory dances in cinemas across Gujarat.
This unprecedented success has not only boosted Gujarati cinema’s profile – with the industry crossing ₹100 crore collectively in 2025 for the first time – but also opened doors for wider reach. The Hindi version promises to bring Krishna’s divine colors and messages of hope to a pan-India audience, just in time for the new year.
Producer and industry insiders express excitement: “Laalo proves that heartfelt stories transcend language barriers. Get ready to be drenched in Krishna’s colors,” shared a team member.
Mark your calendars for January 9, 2026 – a divine experience awaits! Jai Shree Krishna!
