Gandhinagar: Gujarat University has concluded admissions for its online degree programs for the 2026-27 academic year, recording a sharp rise in registrations as demand for online distance digital learning continues to grow.

The admissions process was conducted by the university’s Department of Distance and Online Education, which offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs through online instruction. University officials said the latest enrollment cycle, which began in February, attracted applications from students across India as well as overseas candidates.

University officials said classes for the enrolled students will be conducted online by university faculty members, and examinations will also be held through internet-based systems under academic guidelines approved for online education programs.

According to university records, 3,101 students registered for six online programs during the February 2026 admission cycle. The registrations included 2,993 applicants from India and 108 from abroad. Of those, 447 candidates submitted completed application forms, 440 received approval and 343 students secured admission, including 02 international students.

The university conducts admissions for its online programs twice each year, with an earlier intake held in August 2025.During that cycle, 450 students registered, 252 submitted applications and 180 candidates received approval.A total of 154 students ultimately enrolled.

Gujarat University, headquartered in Ahmedabad, launched its Department of Distance and Online Education to expand access to higher education for working professionals,remote learners and students unable to attend regular classroom programs.The department delivers lectures,study material and assessments through digital platforms in line with India’s broader push toward technology-enabled education.
