Delhi – Mumbai Expressway: Vadodara – Godhra Stretch Opens Officially
May 20, 2026
Vadodara: Around a month after being opened on a trial basis, the Vadodara-Godhra section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway was officially inaugurated on May 20, marking the formal commencement of operations on the key stretch.
The section, comprising Packages 29, 30, and 31 of the Vadodara–Virar segment of the country’s largest greenfield expressway, had remained open for public trials since April 13. With the official launch, the high-speed corridor began full-scale operations, reducing travel time between Vadodara and Godhra to around 45 minutes and offering faster connectivity for thousands of daily commuters across central Gujarat.
During the trial phase, emergency support facilities such as crane services and ambulance assistance had not been fully operational. These services were expected to be integrated following the formal opening.
Once fully completed, the 1,386-km Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is expected to connect Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra, significantly transforming India’s logistics and transportation network. DeshGujarat
