GSRTC Launches Two New AC Volvo Buses on Rajkot – Vadodara Route

Rajkot: The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has allotted 13 new premium buses to the Rajkot ST Division, enhancing passenger comfort and expanding premium travel services across key routes. As part of the initiative, two new Volvo bus services on the Rajkot–Vadodara route were launched on Thursday.

According to N.V. Thummar, Depot Manager of the Volvo Division at Rajkot ST Division, the new services have been introduced in response to growing passenger demand and to provide more convenient and comfortable travel options.

The newly launched Volvo buses will depart from Rajkot at 9:30 am and 5 pm. With the addition of these services, a total of three premium buses are now operating on the Rajkot–Vadodara route, covering the journey in approximately six hours.

Officials said five more Volvo buses will soon be deployed on the Rajkot–Vadodara and Rajkot–Bhuj routes. Additionally, six new air-conditioned seater buses will be introduced from Rajkot on routes connecting the Statue of Unity, Morbi, Jamnagar and Dahod.

The expansion is expected to provide passengers with safer, more comfortable and convenient travel options while strengthening the state transport network.

Meanwhile, the ST department had recently explored the possibility of introducing double-axle buses. A trial involving privately operated buses was conducted at the Rajkot Bus Port, but technical challenges related to bus entry and manoeuvrability within the terminal were identified during the exercise.
