Western Railway to Upgrade Okha–Shalimar Express Train with Modern LHB Coaches

Ahmedabad: In a move aimed at enhancing passenger safety and travel comfort, Western Railway has decided to replace the conventional ICF coaches with modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches on the weekly 22905/22906 Okha–Shalimar Express.

According to Western Railway, Train No. 22905 Okha–Shalimar Express will operate with LHB coaches from August 2, 2026, while Train No. 22906 Shalimar–Okha Express will be upgraded to LHB coaches from August 4, 2026.

LHB coaches are known for their enhanced safety features, reduced jerks, improved riding comfort, and greater stability at higher speeds compared to conventional ICF coaches. The upgrade is expected to provide passengers with a smoother, safer, and more modern travel experience.

The LHB rake of the train will comprise 22 coaches, including:

  • 1 First AC coach
  • 2 Second AC coaches
  • 6 Third AC coaches
  • 6 Sleeper Class coaches
  • 4 General coaches
  • 1 Pantry Car
  • 1 Luggage Van
  • 1 Generator Van

Western Railway said the introduction of LHB coaches is part of its ongoing efforts to modernize train services and improve passenger amenities across its network. The move is expected to significantly enhance travel comfort and safety for passengers travelling between Okha and Shalimar. DeshGujarat
