GSRTC Operated 19,200 Extra Bus Trips, Carrying 9.6 Lakh Passengers During Summer Vacation 2026

Gandhinagar: Considering the heavy traffic and rush of passengers during the summer vacation, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) operated 19,200 special extra trips this year. According to GSRTC, a total of 9.60 lakh passengers availed of this service during the summer vacation of 2026.

GSRTC operated additional trips to various cities, including Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara and Godhra, as well as religious and tourist destinations such as Somnath, Dwarka, Pavagadh, Shamlaji and Ambaji.

With the objective of encouraging citizens to make greater use of public transport services and making travel more convenient, the government expanded the state’s transport services and inducted 300 new buses into service with immediate effect. As a result of the Prime Minister’s appeal to use public transport, the number of passengers travelling on buses operated by the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation has increased by 15,000 daily.

It is worth mentioning that, at present, GSRTC buses operate about 33 lakh kilometres through more than 7,000 schedules and 33,000 trips daily. Through these services, more than 27 lakh passengers receive timely and safe transportation every day.
