Ahmedabad: In a move to fill the shortage of teachers in government and grant-in-aid primary schools, the Gujarat government’s education department has launched a large-scale recruitment drive under the Samagra Shiksha scheme.

The state plans to appoint around 16,000 Gyan Sahayaks on an 11-month contractual basis. The online application process commenced on Thursday and will continue until June 17, creating a significant employment opportunity for qualified job seekers across Gujarat.

As per the official notification, the recruitment will be carried out for government primary schools, grant-in-aid primary schools, model schools, and aided ashram schools functioning under the Tribal Development Department as well as the Social Justice and Empowerment Department.

Candidates applying for the posts must not be more than 48 years of age as of the last date of application. The selection process will be based entirely on merit and the prescribed eligibility norms.

Selected Gyan Sahayaks will be posted at the school level and will receive a fixed monthly remuneration of ₹21,000 during the contract period of 11-months.

The education department has also outlined a timeline for the recruitment process. The provisional merit list is scheduled to be released on June 18, while document verification and school allotment at district primary education offices will take place on June 20. Applications will be accepted only through the online mode, and shortlisted candidates will be required to produce original documents, photocopies, and passport-sized photographs during verification.
