High-Tension Transmission Tower Collapses Near Vadodara; Three Workers Killed
June 13, 2026
Vadodara: Three workers hailing from West Bengal were killed and three others were injured after a high-tension transmission tower collapsed during construction work near Bhavpura village in Dabhoi taluka.
The accident occurred at a site where a 765 KV transmission line is being laid between Vadodara and Olpad in Surat. The project, being executed under the aegis of Power Grid, involves the erection of massive transmission towers and the installation of high-voltage power lines. The work is reportedly being carried out by private contractor Transrail Lighting Limited.
It was learned that the workers were engaged in pulling cables and securing components of the transmission tower when the structure suddenly became unstable. The foundation of the tower reportedly shifted, causing the massive iron structure to collapse.
Six workers who were present at the scene were trapped under the falling steel framework. After locals and emergency services rescued the workers, they were all taken to a hospital in Vadodara where three workers were pronounced dead after succumbing to severe head and internal injuries, while the remaining three continue to undergo treatment and are reported to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, a team from the Dabhoi Police Station reached the site and launched an investigation. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) officials were also called in to assist with the probe.
Authorities are examining the cause of the collapse, including the possibility of structural or construction-related lapses. Meanwhile, officials of TLL and Power Grid have not issued any official statement regarding the incident. DeshGujarat
