June 27, 2026
Gandhinagar: An MoU has been signed between the Gujarat Police and the multi-state cooperative society Sahakar Taxi Co-operative Limited (Bharat Taxi) for digital integration.
The main objective of the agreement is to make urban transport safer and more efficient through a modern digital platform. Under the initiative, an SOS system will be activated in the Bharat Taxi application for the safety of passengers, especially women and senior citizens. The system will be linked to the Gujarat Police control room, enabling immediate assistance during emergencies.
In addition, all drivers joining Bharat Taxi will undergo official verification by the Gujarat Police to help ensure passenger safety. Special awareness programmes on traffic rules and road safety will also be conducted for drivers. Besides this, a joint public awareness campaign will be launched to promote safe and convenient travel for citizens.
Under the partnership, the Gujarat Police will provide support for law and order, driver verification, and control room integration, while Bharat Taxi will operate the digital platform.
For the effective implementation of the project, the Gujarat Police will appoint a special representative to coordinate driver verification, traffic branding, and training programmes. DeshGujarat
