Work Starts on New Integrated Terminal at Ahmedabad Airport
July 27, 2026
Ahmedabad: Construction of the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city has begun, a TOI report said.
As per the report, the airport operator is targeting completion and operational readiness by 2029-30. It is learnt that the first phase of the new terminal is being developed adjacent to the existing domestic terminal, extending from the Terminal 3 (T3) side. According to submissions made by the airport operator to the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA), the project is estimated to cost over ₹3,000 crore.
As per the report, Terminal 3 has been largely vacated to facilitate the project, and work to mark out the construction area and build the peripheral structure is already underway.
As of now, there are no restrictions on passenger movement or vehicular traffic on the airport approach roads, and the airport management has stated that if any section needs to be closed or cordoned off, passengers will be informed in advance to minimise inconvenience.
The terminal complex will be expanded in phases to significantly enhance the airport’s passenger handling capacity to up to 20 million per year. DeshGujarat
