Schools, Colleges in Ahmedabad City to Remain Shut on July 31 Amid Heavy Rain Alert

Ahmedabad: As the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Ahmedabad city, forecasting heavy rainfall, a holiday has been declared for all educational institutions in the city on July 31, 2026, as per the directions of the District Collector.
According to a circular issued by the District Education Officer (East and West), all government, grant-in-aid, self-financed (non-grant) primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, as well as colleges, in both the eastern and western parts of Ahmedabad city will remain completely closed on Friday.
The circular states that this decision has been taken by giving top priority to the safety of students. All school and college administrators have been instructed to immediately convey this information to parents, teachers and students through WhatsApp, SMS, phone calls or other available means.
The district administration has clarified that any decision regarding the coming days will be announced separately after reviewing the weather conditions and the overall situation.
