130 kmph Speed Trial Successful on Samakhiali-Bhachau Third and Fourth Rail Lines

Bhuj: Western Railway has completed the mandatory safety inspection of the newly constructed third and fourth railway lines between Samakhiali and Bhachau in the Ahmedabad Division, marking a major milestone in rail infrastructure development in the Kutch region.

Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (Western Circle) E. Srinivas carried out the inspection in the presence of Ahmedabad Divisional Railway Manager Ved Prakash and Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Pradeep Gupta. Railway officials also successfully conducted a speed trial at 130 kmph during the inspection.

The new third and fourth railway lines will significantly enhance the capacity of the Samakhiali–Bhachau section, enabling faster and more efficient movement of freight trains to and from Kandla and Mundra ports. The project is also expected to improve the punctuality and reliability of both passenger and freight services by easing congestion on the route.

Railway officials said the project will strengthen Gujarat’s logistics network, support industrial and commercial growth, boost tourism, attract investment, and create employment opportunities in the region. They added that the additional railway lines will play an important role in improving connectivity and advancing the country’s infrastructure development goals.

The first phase of the CRS safety inspection was completed on August 5. During that inspection, Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (Western Circle) E. Srinivas carried out a detailed motor trolley inspection of the proposed 16.40-km Down Main-2 line between Samakhiali and Bhachau.

The inspection included a thorough examination of track geometry, rail welding, signalling and interlocking systems, telecommunication arrangements, overhead equipment (OHE), level crossings, bridges, and other operational and safety standards. Officials also carried out an in-depth inspection of Curve No. 63B1, Level Crossing Nos. 202C, 203C, 205 and 206, and Bridge Nos. 254, 261 and 261A. Operational and safety arrangements at Samakhiali and Vonadh railway stations were also reviewed in detail.

During the inspection at a level crossing, Divisional Railway Manager Ved Prakash interacted with local residents, listened to their concerns, and directed officials to ensure prompt and practical solutions in the public interest. DeshGujarat
