Gujarat Police Nab 2 More in Child Trafficking Case

Palanpur: Two absconding accused allegedly linked to a child trafficking racket have been arrested in Mumbai by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Sabarkantha police.

The accused have been identified as Sitaram Parmar of Rajasthan’s Udaipur district and Kavita Patel of Dombivli East, Mumbai.

Police said Parmar allegedly worked as a key middleman, arranging children for sale in Mumbai for commissions, while Patel allegedly procured children and facilitated their sale through an intermediary in Maharashtra.

The arrests followed a human trafficking case registered at Himmatnagar Rural police station. The racket came to light after five people were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly taking a one-month-old girl to Mumbai for sale. They were intercepted on the Idar-Himmatnagar highway.

During questioning, police allegedly found that the group had sold 12 children to Patel through Dinesh Dhrangi and Parmar. The deal for the infant was allegedly fixed at ₹1.5 lakh.

Police suspect the children were sourced from villages in and around Poshina in Banaskantha district. DeshGujarat
