Three held in Ahmedabad after dangerous bike stunt video goes viral

Ahmedabad: Ellisbridge police booked four people, including a juvenile, after a video of them allegedly performing a dangerous bike stunt went viral on social media.

The video, recorded at night on the road from Ellisbridge Police Station towards VS Hospital, shows a biker riding without a helmet with two youths seated behind him, while another youth is seen perched on the rider’s shoulders.

After the video came to the police’s notice through social media, Ellisbridge police nabbed all four persons seen in the video on Monday. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them under the applicable provisions.

A case has been registered at Ellisbridge Police Station against the rider of two-wheeler GJ-01-XM-0856 for allegedly driving rashly and negligently. The three others have also been booked for performing a dangerous stunt by travelling four-up on the motorcycle, allegedly putting their own lives as well as those of pedestrians at risk.

The case has been registered under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 177, 184 and 194(C) of the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA).

Police arrested Ashok Thakor, Alkesh Kanojia and Mitesh Zala, all residents of Gheekanta. A juvenile allegedly involved in the stunt has been booked under the Juvenile Justice Act.

According to the preliminary investigation, the four youths had gone out late at night to have tea in the Gheekanta area. While returning, they allegedly decided to perform the dangerous stunt on the motorcycle. DeshGujarat
