FRC OKays fee hikes for 41 self-financed technical colleges in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: The Fee Regulatory Committee (Technical) has approved revised fees for 41 self-financed technical colleges that had sought increases of more than 5%. The colleges have been allowed an average fee hike of up to 15% for degree programmes and 30% for diploma courses.
The revised fees will remain valid for three years, after which colleges will be permitted an annual 5% increase for the next two years.
Among the approved fees, Navrachana University’s School of Business and Law in Vadodara, which had sought ₹2 lakh for its MBA programme, has been granted a fee of ₹1.66 lakh. The School of Management Studies and Liberal Arts in Vadodara has been allowed to charge ₹1.28 lakh for its MBA programme.
In Surat, PP Savani University had proposed a ₹2-lakh MBA fee through its School of Liberal Arts and Management Studies. The committee has approved a fee of around ₹1.20 lakh.
For other technical programmes, the self-financed pharmacy college in Navsari has been allowed a fee of ₹62,000. Aditya Silver Oak College has been granted a diploma engineering fee of ₹80,000, while LJ Polytechnic, which had sought ₹70,000, has been allowed to charge ₹55,000. RK University’s MPharm programme has been fixed at ₹90,000.
The revision covers degree and diploma engineering, pharmacy, MBA and MCA programmes. Colleges seeking fee increases of less than 5% were considered in an earlier round.
The latest round covers more than 80 colleges that had sought higher fee revisions, with fees for over 30 colleges already announced in the previous round. The revised fee structure will apply from the current academic year. DeshGujarat
