Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Limkheda – Godhra section opens officially

Dahod: Nearly two months after being opened on a trial basis, the 55-km stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway between Limkheda and Godhra in Gujarat has been officially opened to motorists. The section, covered under Packages 27 and 28, became operational on the first day of Navratri.

The newly operational section passes through Dahod district and is expected to improve connectivity and ease travel for motorists. Its opening brings an end to the long wait for residents of the district, who can now use the newly constructed highway.

Spanning approximately 1,350 km, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is one of India’s major highway infrastructure projects. Construction began in 2017, with completion initially targeted for 2024. However, various challenges have delayed the project.

With the opening of this section, the expressway stretch from Kharel in Navsari district to Limkheda in Dahod district is now operational.

Package 26 section expected to be ready by December-January

Motorists can already travel uninterrupted from Thandla in Madhya Pradesh to Delhi. The remaining section under Package 26 connects Limkheda to the Madhya Pradesh border and onward to Thandla.

While the stretch up to Thandla was completed around two years ago, work on the Package 26 section connecting Limkheda with Madhya Pradesh is expected to be completed by December this year or January next year.

Once this section becomes operational, motorists will be able to travel uninterrupted from Kharel in Navsari district to Delhi.

Toll collection at Limkheda plaza to begin on November 1

Toll collection at the Limkheda toll plaza, which falls under Package 28, is currently suspended as the newly opened section is operating on a preliminary basis. Regular toll collection is scheduled to begin on November 1.

Motorists should note that facilities such as petrol pumps and restaurants are not yet available along this stretch. They are advised to ensure they have sufficient fuel, food, water and other essentials before starting their journey to avoid inconvenience along the way. DeshGujarat
