Rain May Play Spoilsport on Final Day of Navratri in Gujarat; Here’s IMD Forecast

Ahmedabad: With the monsoon having already withdrawn from Gujarat and no significant rainfall recorded during the first three days of Navratri, Garba enthusiasts may be hoping that rain will not disrupt the festivities in the coming days. However, that may not be the case, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest forecast, has predicted light to moderate rain at isolated places in parts of Gujarat on Maha Navami, the final day of Navratri.

In its latest bulletin, the IMD has forecast dry weather across all districts of Gujarat from October 14 to October 18.

However, on October 19, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Navsari and Valsad districts of South Gujarat, as well as in Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. In Saurashtra, Amreli and Bhavnagar districts may also receive isolated showers.

Dry weather is expected to return across the state on October 20, with the IMD forecasting no rainfall across Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch and the Union Territories of Diu, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

According to the IMD, conditions are becoming favourable for the further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from the remaining parts of the country. The onset of northeast monsoon rainfall over the southern peninsula is also expected around October 15.
