₹92.70 Crore Shri Krishna Museum Coming Up in Dwarka
October 22, 2026
Dwarka: A Shri Krishna Museum is being developed in Dwarka at a cost of ₹92.70 crore to showcase the life, teachings and divine leelas of Lord Krishna through a blend of traditional art and modern digital technology. The project aims to preserve India’s cultural and spiritual heritage while making it more accessible and engaging for younger generations.
Located around 1.6 km from the Dwarkadhish Temple, the museum will feature nine themed galleries dedicated to different stages of Lord Krishna’s life, his philosophy and the timeless teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.
Moving beyond the conventional museum experience, the facility will incorporate interactive displays, immersive audio-visual presentations and other digital technologies. These features are intended to help visitors explore Krishna’s life and teachings through visual storytelling, traditional art and interactive experiences.
Nine Galleries to Showcase Key Episodes from Krishna’s Life
The museum’s nine galleries will take visitors through significant episodes from Lord Krishna’s life, beginning with his birth and childhood. Exhibits will cover his childhood leelas in Gokul and Vrindavan, the lifting of Govardhan Hill, the subduing of the serpent Kaliya and the Raas Leela.
Other galleries will depict Krishna’s departure for Mathura, the slaying of Kansa, the establishment of Dwarka and his pivotal role in the Mahabharata. His teachings and the philosophical message of the Bhagavad Gita will also form a key part of the museum’s presentation.
These narratives will be brought to life through sculptures, paintings, handicrafts, artworks and replicas. The exhibits are expected to offer visitors an engaging visual understanding of Krishna’s life, teachings and enduring influence on Indian culture.
Modern Technology to Enhance Visitor Experience
The museum will incorporate modern technologies to present historical and cultural narratives in an accessible format. Planned features include immersive audio-visual presentations, interactive digital displays, 3D projection mapping, touchscreen information kiosks and motion-sensor-based experiences.
Thematic lighting, sound effects, digital storytelling and multimedia projections are expected to create an immersive environment for visitors. These features will also help explain philosophical concepts and traditional narratives in ways that appeal to audiences across age groups.
Lotus Pond, Amphitheatre and Visitor Amenities
In addition to the galleries, the project will include landscaped areas, a lotus pond, a light-and-sound show and an amphitheatre. These features are intended to create a space that combines cultural learning, recreation and spiritual engagement.
The museum will also offer visitor amenities, including digital information systems, help desks, accessibility provisions for persons with disabilities, a café, a souvenir shop and organised parking.
Museum Expected to Boost Dwarka Tourism
Dwarka is one of the four Char Dham pilgrimage sites and one of the seven sacred cities known as the Saptapuris. Its association with Lord Krishna, the Dwarkadhish Temple and its coastal setting make it a prominent destination for religious tourism.
The museum is expected to add a cultural and educational dimension to visits to the city, giving tourists an opportunity to explore Krishna’s life and teachings alongside their pilgrimage.
The project could also create economic opportunities for local businesses and people working in tourism-related sectors, including hospitality, transport, handicrafts and retail. DeshGujarat
