October 30, 2026
Mehsana: The counting of donations collected at the renowned Bahucharaji Mataji Temple has commenced under tight security and CCTV surveillance after a gap of six months.
The cash, which had been stored in sacks in a temple storeroom for the past six months, is being counted under the supervision of senior revenue officials. The process is scheduled to continue until November 6.
A team comprising 21 temple staff members and three bank officials has been deployed for the exercise. The counting is being monitored by senior officials, including a Deputy Collector, a Mamlatdar, two Deputy Mamlatdars and three Revenue Talatis. Kadi Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Jagrutiben Patel was present when the counting commenced on October 28.
To ensure transparency and efficiency, two separate rooms in the temple office have been designated for the exercise. Currency notes are being sorted in one room, while the other is being used for consolidating and counting them with the help of modern currency-counting machines.
Temple Administrator A. K. Thakkar said the entire process is being video-recorded, and the footage will be securely preserved until the counting is completed.
The administration is also releasing daily updates on the amount counted, along with a denomination-wise breakdown of the currency notes, to maintain transparency. The exercise is expected to continue until November 6, when the total amount of donations counted will be known. DeshGujarat
