Ahmedabad Gets Three New Police Stations

Ahmedabad: Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Wednesday inaugurated three new police stations at Motera, Vastral and Hanspura in Ahmedabad, taking the city’s total number of police stations from 49 to 52.

Addressing citizens and police personnel at the inauguration, Sanghavi said the new police stations would save residents time and effort by eliminating the need to travel long distances to file complaints, submit applications or complete other official work. The Motera Police Station will also strengthen security around major event venues, including Narendra Modi Stadium, and help maintain law and order during large gatherings.

Sanghavi commended the Ahmedabad Crime Branch for busting an interstate drug network and seizing MD drugs and heroin worth crores of rupees. He also praised police personnel for working through the night during Navratri to ensure the safety of lakhs of festivalgoers and protect industrial and commercial establishments.

Ahead of Diwali, the Deputy Chief Minister urged police personnel to adopt a supportive approach towards street vendors, stall owners and small traders, allowing them to conduct business peacefully until late at night. He also appealed to citizens to support small traders and avoid excessive bargaining during the festive season.

“Criminals and anti-social elements must fear the law. However, when ordinary or poor citizens approach a police station, they must be treated with respect, heard patiently and provided timely justice with sensitivity,” Sanghavi said.

Lauding police personnel for their dedication, he urged them to spend quality time with their families and celebrate Diwali with their loved ones after completing their duties. DeshGujarat
