November 05, 2026
Ahmedabad: With thousands of passengers expected during the Diwali and Chhath rush, Ahmedabad railway stations have strengthened security with 240 CCTV cameras and 110 additional Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel.
Ahmedabad station has 119 cameras and Sabarmati 121, with 60 more proposed. CCTV control rooms will operate round the clock, while plainclothes personnel will monitor passenger-related crimes. The additional RPF deployment includes 55 personnel at Ahmedabad, 40 at Sabarmati and 15 at Asarwa. An additional Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) company has also been deployed at Ahmedabad.
To prevent overcrowding, Sabarmati station has introduced queue-based boarding, guiding passengers from ticket counters to holding areas and platforms in organised batches at scheduled times.
More than 70 special train trips are being operated, particularly towards Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Additional coaches have been attached to regular trains, while authorities are also accounting for 20–25 trains passing through Ahmedabad and Sabarmati from Rajkot and Bhuj. DeshGujarat
