Congress Conspiring to Create Bangladesh-Like Puppet Govt in India: Union Minister in Surat
November 05, 2026
Surat: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Congress over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, accusing the opposition party of relying on infiltrators and bogus voters to win elections.
Addressing a press conference in Surat, Rai said the Congress had suffered 56 defeats in Assembly elections since 2014 but had failed to introspect or reform itself. Instead, he alleged, the party was attempting to exploit illegal infiltrators and fake voters to regain political power. He further accused the Congress of conspiring to install a “Bangladesh-like puppet government” in India.
Emphasising the issue of illegal immigration, Rai said India’s youth had the rightful claim to employment opportunities and national resources. He asserted that neither the BJP nor the country would tolerate foreign infiltrators residing illegally in India and depriving citizens of their rightful opportunities.
Rai Defends SIR, Says 13 Crore Electoral Entries Removed
Defending the SIR exercise, Rai claimed that approximately 13 crore entries had been removed from electoral rolls across the country following due legal procedures. These included 6.3 crore migrant voters, three crore absent voters, 2.8 crore deceased persons and one crore duplicate entries, besides alleged foreign infiltrators.
Questioning the Congress’s opposition to the revision exercise, Rai asked whether the party intended to win elections by relying on these 13 crore entries. He said the removal of bogus entries had corrected longstanding irregularities and strengthened the electoral process.
Congress Questioned Over Opposition to Electoral Roll Revision
Rai questioned the Congress’s opposition to the Election Commission’s electoral roll revision process, pointing out that 10 of the 12 such exercises conducted in India’s history had taken place during Congress rule.
He said the Election Commission followed established procedures, including issuing notices, conducting inquiries and providing affected individuals an opportunity to present their cases before removing names from electoral rolls.
Referring to senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal’s remarks acknowledging the process as routine, Rai accused the opposition of politicising the exercise. He alleged that the Congress was avoiding discussions on national interests and the welfare of the poor in Parliament while staging a “mock Parliament”.
Rai also accused the opposition of questioning electoral institutions after losing elections while accepting the credibility of electronic voting machines (EVMs) when it wins.
Rai Accuses Congress of Conspiracy to Destabilise India
The Union Minister alleged that the Congress was acting at the behest of foreign powers to destabilise India and install a puppet government, drawing parallels with Bangladesh. He asserted that India would not repeat the mistakes of the 1947 Partition.
Highlighting the Modi government’s achievements, Rai claimed that 25 crore people had been lifted out of poverty and that Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) had eliminated middlemen in welfare delivery. He also cited infrastructure development as evidence of India’s progress, accusing the Congress of being unable to tolerate the country’s growth because of its dynastic politics and corruption.
Rai Invokes Vivekananda, Says India Will Become Developed Nation by 2047
Recalling Swami Vivekananda’s vision for India, Rai said the spiritual leader had predicted that the 21st century would belong to India. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working to fulfil that vision through his leadership and governance.
Rai expressed confidence that India would become a developed nation by 2047 through the collective efforts of farmers, labourers, youth and women. He asserted that attempts to weaken the country would not succeed. DeshGujarat
