Ahmedabad: The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, and Shree Somnath Trust have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore design-led initiatives to enhance the cultural heritage and visitor experience at Prabhas Patan, home to the Somnath Temple.
The collaboration will leverage NID Ahmedabad’s expertise across design disciplines to develop interactive exhibits, architectural installations, signage, wayfinding systems and immersive spatial experiences. It will also explore research and documentation of the region’s arts, crafts, textile traditions, architecture and intangible cultural heritage.
The partnership aims to strengthen public engagement, improve visitor experiences and enhance the temple’s institutional identity while preserving and interpreting the region’s historical and cultural significance.
