Surat Police rescue 52 foreign, 145 Indian females from prostitution rackets this year

Surat: City Police Commissioner Ajay Tomar today said that as many as 602 raids were conducted in a week at Spa centers and hotels in an ongoing drive, resulting into 16 cases of immoral trafficking and 188 cases of public notification breach.
He said, the activities near schools and colleges were especially under police’s scanner during the drive. He added that reporting was underway to suitable agencies for cancellation of license of outlets that were found violating the rules.
He said raids were also carried out at hotels, where staff is required to check i-card of customer and maintain the hotel register properly. He said the hotels are required to enter the details of customers in Pathik software. Also the hotels and Spas are bound to register their staffers properly. As many as 62 cases are filed and 90 accused are arrested during this drive, he added. He said, in case of foreign citizens, there’s a legal requirement of filing ‘C’ form.
The city police commissioner further informed that before current ongoing drive, 47 cases were filed and 101 persons were arrested this year over immoral trafficking. In the current year, 197 women were freed from illegal prostitution activities among them 52 were foreign citizens. DeshGujarat
