15km long traffic jam on NH 27 connecting Kutch-Saurashtra
April 27, 2024
Kutch: A major traffic jam occurred today on National Highway 27, which connects Kutch and Saurashtra. Due to ongoing repairs on the railway bridge near Haripar village in Maliya Taluka the vehicular traffic was being restricted to one-way flow. This morning, an accident involving a trailer and a container brought traffic to a standstill over a 15 km stretch from Haripar in Maliya to Surajbari Bridge in Kutch, with no resolution until noon.
According to reports, the accident occurred this morning between an overloaded trailer and a container from Rajasthan on the diversion route near Haripar Railway Bridge. The accident led to a roadblock, disrupting traffic movement. Maliya police and highway teams immediately mobilized to clear the affected heavy vehicles. However, several truck drivers were stuck during the process, and other vehicles, both large and small, began traveling in the wrong direction, further exacerbating the situation.
Currently, Maliya Police, Maliya District Traffic Police, Samakhiyali Police, and Surajbari Toll Plaza authorities are doing efforts to restore normal traffic flow. Vehicles from both directions are currently being allowed to proceed alternately, as authorities work to clear the backlog. DeshGujarat
