Traffic jam on NH 48 in Navsari after incessant rains
July 23, 2024
Navsari: Incessant rains have been lashing South Gujarat’s Navsari district, resulting in high rainfall throughout the region since this morning. This led to a traffic jam of about 3 km on National Highway No. 48, near Parthan village in Navsari district today. The NH 48 connects Mumbai to Ahmedabad while passing through Navsari trucks, four-wheelers, and other vehicles that were stuck for hours, moving at a slow pace amid the congestion.
Diversions have been created at Parthan and Un villages. Additionally, ongoing construction of a bridge and incomplete service roads have contributed to the highway congestion. Reportedly, traffic jams have been recurring since last week, with vehicles moving slowly due to the continuous rain.
The highway is primarily used by trucks transporting goods between districts and cities. The traffic jam is causing delays in reaching their destinations, which directly impacts transporters financially.
In another update, six talukas in Navsari district have recorded an average of one inch of rain since early morning. The administration is monitoring the situation closely and making all necessary preparations to handle potential flooding. DeshGujarat
