ACB Gujarat book police constable, accomplice in bribery case

Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has booked a police constable and his accomplice in a bribery case involving an amount of Rs 10,000.

In this case, the complainant’s friend was booked in a physical assault case, and to avoid further torture, prevent additional charges, avoid being booked under PASA, and to secure early bail, the accused constable, Karan, posted at Charodia Police Chowki under Rakhiyal Police Station, demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000. The complainant, in a hurry, first paid Rs 20,000. However, the accused repeatedly called the complainant to demand the remaining amount, after which the complainant approached the ACB.

Later, as part of the trap, the complainant spoke with the constable, who insisted he hand over the bribe money to his accomplice, another accused in the case, Mustaq Rasool Allah Rakha Sayyed. The ACB caught Sayyed red-handed while accepting the bribe. Sayyed has been detained, while the arrest of accused constable Karan is pending. DeshGujarat
