Grade,semester in, toppers list, gracing out in Gujarat board exams

Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board’s important meeting was held in Gandhinagar on Saturday. Some major decisions taken in the meeting are presented below.
-The announcement of toppers(top ten) students with highest marks in standard 10th and 12th board exams will not be made in future. Toppers list will go from next year. So you will not find front page photos of topper students in newspapers any more.
-The board will take exam of five compulsory subject in 10th. Exams of two elective subjects will be taken by the schools. This will be implemented from board exam season of year 2011.
-The practice of giving gracing marks will go.
-From year 2011 batch, a new semester system will be introduced in standard 11th and 12th Science stream. There will be total four semesters. First and third semester will have OMR Objective test system. Second and fourth semester will have descriptive test.
-Results will be on the bases of grade and percentile.
91-100 marks – A1 grade – 10 points
81-90 marks – A2 grade – 9 points
71-80 marks – B1 grade – 8 points
33-40 marks – D grade – 4 points
21-32 marks – E1 grade ———–
20 or less than that marks – E2 ——–
-Passing marks will be 33 out of 100 instead of 35 at present.
