Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated 250-bed revamped U.N.Mehta super specialty heart hospital.

The Chief Minister also performed ground breaking of proposed multi/super specialty new civil hospital and new ultra-modern emergency care and trauma centre, projected as Asia’s biggest and scheduled to be completed by 2012.

Speaking at function Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his government’s resolve to provide the best possible medical services to the common man at minimum cost, with qualitative improvement in all the departments of health services in the state.

Modi dared the ‘Delhi sultanate’ to compete with Gujarat in the healthy growth of the land, shed concern about the Commonwealth and pay attention to the common man’s health and other pressing issues.

No amount of threats from CBI or any other agency could check the soldiers of Gujarat out on a do-or-die mission to take the state to new heights in the world map, he warned his adversaries.

He listed providing fortified food, potable water through the Narmada Canal network and pollution-free transport system as preventive healthcare taken up by the state government. Ahmedabad, once considered to be one of the most polluted city, has come out of the sobriquet through a series of steps like planting a record 9-lakh sapling in a single day.

Criticizing the Congress-ruled Centre for shaming the nation in corruption index in preparation for the Commonwealth Games, Mr Modi said the works could not be completed in four years with the Prime Minister searching for excuses to justify its cost escalation from the original Rs.69-crore to Rs.45,000-crore. In sharp contrast, he pointed out the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex was completed in Ahmedabad in 18 months.
