Gujarat Tourism minister Shri Jaynarayan Vyas and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Parimal Nathwani today performed groundbreaking ceremony of Rs. 9.5 crore Sudama setu project at Dwarka.

Once ready, the proposed Sudama setu will connect Gomtighat and Panchkui island in Dwarka. Hanging bridge ‘Sudama setu’ will be constructed in 14-month period. It will be 127 meter long and 11 ft wide.

Panchkui is small island which is currently not accessible to tourists. Though te island is surrounded by sea in all directions, it possesses five sweet water wells. Panchkui’s history is associated with five Pandavas who visited this place in Mahabharata era. Each of the five sweet water well is associated with one Pandav.

As per the state tourism department’s plan, the island will have facilities for meditation and yoga, besides recreation and picnic spot. After ‘Sudama setu’, Panchkiu island will attract great number of tourists because the island provides a great view of the Arabian Sea.

Sharda peeth’s Narayan nandji, District Collector Shri Sandip kumar, Administrator Thakar, Chief officer Patel and other officials graced the occasion.

I can say with confidence that the Gujarat Congress(I) knowing their style of working(if you call it working) will try to object to this project and try to shame Gujarat people in front of the rest of the country.

    very good

    Wow, looks very good.
But what is more appreciable is two things . One is 9.5 crore, which is quiet less and the 14 month period which is so quick. Good work guj govt

At such tourist places, Gujarat government should open bookstores with books on history of these places. Few years back I went to Dwarka and was awestruck by the beauty of Dwarkadhish Temple. I wanted to study more about the history of temple but unfortunately there was no book store in the vicinity.

I believe foreign tourists like to experience the place by knowing more about the place and if they have ability to buy relevant books, they will definitely appreciate it.

Along with book store, government can also sell small gift articles like post cards with pictures of different temples in Dwakra, pictures of the beach views, key chains with miniature temple structure etc. This is also one good way to popularize the place.

    Wonderful idea Eternal.
This idea should reach Shri Parimal Nathwani (Dwarkadhish devasthan samiti)
He is a real doer and if he likes the idea, a book stall will be there in some time.
