Agnivesh slapped, turban removed, had to leave in police cordon

Controversial Swami Agnivesh was today slapped by a Sadhu, and his turban was thrown in air in Ahmedabad.

Sadhu Nityananddas from Vairagi akhada of central Gujarat’s Mahudha today slapped Agnivesh protesting against his statement about Amarnath Yatra. Agnivesh had said, “Amarnath yatra is pakhand” after he met separatist Muslim leaders in Jammu & Kashmir.

As per his plan Sadhu Nityanand remained present at a rally of Anna Hazare in Ahmedabad today evening. The rally was attended by about 1000 persons. It was held on the footpath of Sardarbag.

Nityanand couldn’t get chance to humiliate Agnivesh during the public meeting, but as soon as the meeting concluded, Nityanand successfully came near the stage. Agnivesh was meeting the people from stage after meeting was over. Nityanand was standing on one side of the stage. Nityanand had several cotton garlands in his hand. He showed garlands to Agnivesh and called him to come near. Agnivesh went on one side of the stage to receive the garland. As soon as he bended down his head to received cotton garland, Nityananddas slapped him and threw his turban in air.

Nityanand das was immediately caught by some volunteers and later the police. Nityanand das visibly happy when Police caught him and took him to Karanj police station. Nityayand said he slapped Agnivesh against his statement on Amarnath Yatra.

As soon as Nityanand das completed his job, one Mr. Hashmi on stage angry with Nityanand’s act rushed to beat him. However three-four persons including one police official prevented Hashmi to leave the stage by applying force.

Swami Agnivesh was taken out of the stage in police protection. Police guarded him upto his car, and one pilot and one escort car accompanied his car.

Sadhu Nityanand das had declared Rs 51,000 reward to anyone who slap Agnivesh or beat him by shoe. Nityanand das has declared this reward for each slap and each throw of shoe. As nobody took Nityanand’s offer seriously, he himself did it.
