Former Banaskantha MP Shri Harisinh Chavda passes away

Former member of parliament and Congress leader Harisinh Chavda is no more. He was 83. Chavda was elected to 14th Lok Sabha from Banaskantha seat in north Gujarat. He was one of the 18 cabinet ministers in 1975-1976 Babubhai Jashbhai Patel government of Janta Morcha. He was given the portfolio of Prohibition ministry.
Shri Chavda founded Lokniketan and started three colleges, ten high schools, five ashram shalas, eight hostels and kindergartens. His contribution in tribal area on education front is immense. Shri Chavda founded “Nootan Bharati” Institute at Palanpur and then handed over its management to the local people. He started Thakkarbapa and Sarvajanik Chhatralaya at Palanpur.
