Uddhav Thackeray meets Narendra Modi in Gujarat capital

Ahmedabad, 7 December 2013

Shiv Sena president Udhav Thackeray today called on Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi in capital town of Gujarat. Shri Thackeray was welcomed by BJP leaders at Ahmedabad airport where he arrived today afternoon in chartered plane. Early this week, Shiv Sena’s Manohar Joshi had called on Gujarat Chief Minister in Gandhinagar. Both leaders had long political discussion. Modi has so far held campaign rallies across north and south Indian states, but skipped Maharashtra which is one of the major states so far number of Lok Sabha seats are concerned.

Due to split of vote between BJP-Shiv Sena alliance and Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS), the NCP-Congress alliance has enjoyed upper hand in Maharashtra in recent years. Both Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and even Ramdas Athwalie led Republican Party favor Narendra Modi as prime minister. It has to be seen whether ‘Narendra Modi for PM’ cause is able to unite Thackeray brothers and others.
