Vadodara, 19 July 2014
Approach road of Atladra-Manjalpur river bridge suffered damage on one side, in one direction due to 9 inch rain in 24 hours, and subsequent water logging.
It is believed that the pressure of rain water caused landslide at the base of the approach road which caused damage to portion of single lane.
The repair work if done on war foot basis may take three-four days for correction.
Municipal Commissioner and other officers rushed to the spot to have an idea of damage.
Congress leader Chinnam Gandhi was spotted giving bytes to media persons. He claimed the bridge had collapsed, and section of media carried the news in same words.
However, on the ground only a border portion of one side of approach road had suffered damage which was not structural in nature.
Poor judgement of construction company while building this approach road can still be questioned because the bridge was opened for traffic just recently by the state Chief Minister who paid visit to the city to inaugurate several development projects including this bridge.
