“Crop insurance policy to assure farmers minimum income”

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured farmers today that their interests would be kept in mind while tailoring the new crop insurance policy under which a provision for their minimum income would also be taken into account.
“Farming is the only profession, which is devoid of a minimum income slab. So we are framing a crop insurance policy keeping income provision in mind.
“The policy will be such that in case of crop damage, a farmer would be compensated by a minimum income (which he had expected to draw from his produce) from the government,” Chouhan told a farmers’ gathering here.
