Rath Yatra 2015: Anandiben likely to visit Saraspur

On Rath Yatra day tomorrow, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel will not just perform Pahind ceremony at Jagannath Mandir in the morning, but will also reach Saraspur later where Rath Yatra halts in the afternoon.
Be it Amarsinh Chaudhary or Keshubhai Patel, Chief Ministers in the past used to perform Pahind ceremony in the morning at Jagannath Mandir on Rath Yatra day and later proceed to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) campus to welcome Mahant and Rath Yatra there. After Narendra Modi came to power, he skipped the AMC function due to security reasons. He however continued to perform Pahind ceremony at Jagannath mandir.
Anandiben Patel as a Chief Minister will perform Pahind ceremony early in the morning at Jagannath Mandir and will later visit Saraspur in east Ahmedabad where Rath Yatra takes halt for some time. Thousands of people participating in Rath Yatra are offered free meal at Sarasnpur by local people and religious organizations.
Local BJP MLA Jagrupsinh Rajput confirmed Chief Minister’s Saraspur visit and said police has finalized separate route for Chief Minister’s convoy. He said, an invitation was extended to Chief Minister and we are glad she has accepted it.
