Veer Savarkar inspires me, says coastal swimming champion from Gujarat

Hiten Patel from Surat who won 21 nautical mile Chorwad-Veraval Veer Savarkar national coastal swimming championship today said the secret of his victory is Veer Savarkar who inspires him when he is in sea. Hiten today won the championship for third year in row.
In 16 nautical miles women’s section swimming championship, Surat based Monika Mukeshbhai Nagpure emerged as victorious. 15-year old Monika who swam for 4 hours from Adrina beach in Gir Somnath district said she wants to be best swimmer of India.
Government of Gujarat organizes Vir Savarkar Rashtriya Samutra Taran Spardha once every two years. Today’s was 29th edition of this competition in which boys had to swim between Chorvad and Veraval and girls between Adri and Veraval. Four girls had participated in this competition. Monika studies in standard 1th in Surat.
