Vijay Mallya arrested in London, to be produced in court, extradition likely

Bank loans defaulter Vijay Mallya who is wanted in India for defaulting on loans worth Rs 9,000 crore has been arrested by Scotland Yard in London on Tuesday. Mallya is likely to be extradited to India. A CBI team will visit United Kingdom soon. Mallya, who has been declared by some banks as wilful defaulter, has been in the United Kingdom since March last year.According to TV reports, he is expected to be produced before the magistrate court in Westminister.Earlier, the Indian government requested the Theresa May government to extradite Mallya. The request came when Finance Minister Arun Jaitley met the UK Chancellor and others in 2016.
