Youths in Anand draw Pakistan flag on road, stand on it with tricolors
May 04, 2017
Anand (Gujarat): Amid increasing anger among commoners against Pakistan for its dastardly act of killing and mutilating the bodies two Indian soldiers and unprovoked firing on the border, a former councilor and some other people drew a huge Pakistani flag on a road here in the wee hours today to express their annoyance towards the neighboring country.
Former councilor of Anand municipality Sachin H Patel and some others drew the flag on the road near grid crossing in the city in the wee hours today and also posted a video on the social media showing them standing on it holding small tricolors (Indian flags) in their hands as a mark of protest.
Sachin later said that he wanted people and vehicles move over the Pakistani flag. ‘We all are very angry,’ he said.
However, police got the Pakistani flag drawn over the road white-washed with the help of the local municipality staff.
PSI of SOG R V Vichhi said that the matter was under investigation.
Another police officer said that despite the unwelcome behavior of the neighboring country, the public disrespect for its flag in that manner was not up to Indian traditions.
Notably, the Muslim community in Ahmedabad had held anti Pakistan demonstration yesterday near Delhi Darwaza in Ahmedabad. They had even burnt the effigy of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
