Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) is all set to launch a shuttle bus service connecting Sardar Patel International airport and SG Highway covering in-total 30 stoppages on June 24. The bus to be used on this route will be air conditioned(AC). The total length of route from Ahmedabad airport to Karnavati Club is 22.7 km. Ticket fare for travel upto 10 km will be Rs 27 and beyond that Rs 50.

The bus will be operated from 4.00 am to 10.45 pm. In 22 km route it will have 30 pickup and drop stands. The bus will pass through the route that has 25 hotels.

To start with, five buses are to be put on roads. The number of this service will be 1,000.

The bus will have ‘Real time information display system’ showcasing the timetable of flights. Driver and conductor will wear blue color uniform.

Transport Manager Arjav Shah said, “we have planned this service in a way that one bus will be available at every half an hour. The passengers will be able to board the bus from any of 30 stoppages. The bus will have WiFi facility. It will have sitting capacity for 28 passengers and standing capacity for 36 passengers. The bus will have separate facility of luggage compartment.”

Shah further said the bus will have LED display to showcase the timetable of flights. Buses on this route will also have CCTV cameras installed.

He said the bus for airport route is modified version of BRTS bus. Six of AMC’s BRTS buses are modified at a cost of Rs 5-7 lakh for 1,000 number shuttle service.It has been designed in a way to allow passengers keep luggage on the side of their seats.

The bus which is being launched as a pilot project will be flagged off by Union Urban Development minister Venkaiah Naidu.
