Package-wise update on work in progress on Gujarat portion of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

Vadodara: The work on the 1,386 km long, eight-lane Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is progressing at a rapid pace. The project has been segmented into various sections and packages to streamline its development. In this write-up, we provide a package-wise update on the progress of the 426 km portion of the expressway that passes through Gujarat.

The expressway runs through Gujarat in two major sections: Delhi to Vadodara and Vadodara to Virar. The Delhi to Vadodara section comprises a total of 31 packages, out of which packages 26 to 31 are located in Gujarat, each at varying levels of completion.

Package 26 begins in Madhya Pradesh, entering Gujarat at Chhayan village (Dahod district) and extends to Bhimpura village, with 43% of the work completed. Package 27 stretches from Bhimpura village, beyond the Limkheda Interchange, to Sant Road, achieving 81% progress. Package 28, which runs between Sant Road and the Godhra Interchange, is 84% complete. Package 29, connecting the Godhra Interchange to the Kalol Interchange, is fully completed at 100%. Package 30 covers the stretch from Kalol Interchange to Pratapnagar, with 83% of the work completed. Finally, Package 31 starts at Pratapnagar and ends at the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway (NE1) Interchange in Dodka village (Vadodara district), reaching 95% completion.

Moving on to the Vadodara to Virar section, which comprises 13 packages, packages 1 to 10 are in Gujarat, starting from Vadodara and extending to the Maharashtra border.

In this section, Packages 1, 2, and 3, which make up the Vadodara-Bharuch segment, are fully operational up to Dehgam village (Bharuch district), ensuring smooth connectivity. Package 4, extending from Manubar to Ankleshwar, is nearly complete at 94%. However, Packages 5 through 10 are at varying stages of development. Packages 5 and 6, covering Ankleshwar to Kim Interchange and Kim Interchange to Ena Interchange near Surat, are 48% and 53% complete, respectively. Packages 7 to 10, which traverse Ena Interchange to Talasari near the Maharashtra border, show slower progress, with completion rates ranging from 2% to 10%.

It is noteworthy that as of now, in Gujarat, only the Vadodara-Bharuch segment of this new expressway is open for traffic. However, during the budget session in August 2024, the central government stated that the expressway is expected to be ready by October 2025. DeshGujarat
