PM Modi release Rs 150 and 10 coin and Rs 5 special postal stamp on Shrimad Rajchandraji

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released two commemorative coins and a special postal stamp on Shrimad Rajchandraji, on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary.

One coin of Rs 150 denominations was meant for collectors and the other of Rs 10 was for normal circulation.

The postal stamp was of Rs five denominations.

Addressing a function organized at the Gaushala ground close to Sabarmati Ashram of Sabarmati Ashram of Gandhi, which was also visited by PM Modi on the occasion of completion of 100 years of its setting up by Bapu, Modi sought a better propagation of messages about Gandhiji and Rajchandraji.

He lamented the fact that the new generation was not aware fully about Shrimad Rajchandraji who had such a great influence over Gandhiji. He suggested the universities in Gujarat and elsewhere could take of research on the spiritual personality and the correspondence between the two.

PM Modi also said that had Gandhi been properly projected as a messenger of peace across the world, every new secretary general of the United Nations would have made it a ritual to visit Sabarmati Ashram and spend some time in Hruday Kunj and at Sabarmati bank before formal start of his tenure and to set the agenda of his world peace mission.

On the occasion he also urged the political leaders to take inspiration about their role from the most popular bhajan of Bapu written by noted Gujarati poet Narsinh Mehta four centuries ago; Vaishnav Jan to tene re kahiye….. by replacing Vaishnav Jan with the world Lok Pratinidhi (People’s representative).

He also released a book about the works of Sabarmati Ashram ‘Sabarmati Shatabdi Ek Kayanjali’ and a booklet Gandhi Tapobhoomi on the occasion.

Earlier PM Modi visited the Ashram and also tried his hands on the spinning wheel (Charkha) in the Hruday Kunj apart from plantation of a tamarind sapling. He also made a detailed entry in to the visitors book writing about the historic importance of the ashram.
.Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Dy CM Nitin Patel, Minister Bhupendra Chudasma and trustees of the Ashram were also present on the occasion.

Governor O P Kohli, Former Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, Sabarmati Ashram trustee Ilaben, Director General of National Archives Raghvendra Singh, Chief Post Master General S R Meena, head of Shrimad Rajchandraji mission Dharampur Rakeshbhai and officials of finance ministry and other distinguished personalities were also present in the coin/stamp release event.
