September 26, 2017
Surat: The longest bridge on river Tapi which is known as Jilani bridge will be inaugurated on Vijaya Dashami. The bridge has been named as Chandrashekhar Azad bridge.
The bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs 227 crore between Rander based Jilani complex and Paliya kotar 7.
Construction of this bridge had to be started in 2012, however various issues caused delay and works could start only in 2014. The project was later delayed for reasons including land acquisition, alignment issue on Rander side and additional payment demand by contractor Ranjit Buildcon.
With opening of this bridge, river Tapi will have total 10 bridges. Rander and Adajan Patiya areas are straight away connected to Katargam and Railway Station with completion of this bridge. The bridge will take some burden of Ring Road and Raj Marg.
