Over 1400 Gram Panchayats in Gujarat to go for polls on February 4

The election/by elections in over 1400 Gram Panchayats of 32 districts in Gujarat would be held on February 4.
The counting for the election which are not held on party basis will take place on February 6.
The State Election Commission today announced the poll schedule and with this the model code of conduct has come in force in the areas concerned.
Apart from Dangs all the other 32 districts of the state would see these polls. The maximum number of Gram Panchayats going to polls in a particular district is 229 for Jamnagar while Surat with only 4 was at the lowest rung in this regard.
The nomination process for all the 1423 gram panchayats would begin with the notification for the same on January 15. The last date for it would be January 20. The scrutiny of nomination papers would take place on January 22 while the last date for withdrawal of names would be January 23. The polling would take place from 8am to 5pm on February 4 and if the need be the re-polling would be held on February 5. Counting would take place on February 6.
