Gandhinagar: Fire broke out at GIFT city Gandhinagar’s SEZ admin wing today afternoon. It is learnt that a canteen portion of SEZ blocks has gutted. In took nearly half an hour for first fire tender to arrive as fire spread further to administrative blocks. Chief Fire Officer of Gandhinagar Mahesh Modh said GIFT City’s own fire service was already in action to douse the fire. However due to winds and open nature of administrative block, fire spread further and therefore Gandhinagar Fire Service was contacted. There was nothing explosive lying in the low rise office blocks where fire broke out. Fire could have caused by short circuit. GIFT city’s own fire tender, Gandhinagar Fire Brigade’s fire tenders, private tankers and one fire tender from Ahmedabad Fire Brigade were in action to douse the fire, he said. Modh also said that fire will be in control by evening. Here are the pictures collated from social media platforms. More details are awaited.
