Congress stages walk-out from Gujarat assembly soon after start of budget speech

Gandhinagar:

Main opposition Congress today walked out from Gujarat assembly during presentation of budget by Dy CM cum Finance Minister Nitin Patel.

Congress members started shouting minutes after Patel started his budget speech. When Nitin Patel was speaking about agriculture, farmers and cooperative sector budget, the congress MLAs started shouting on the issue of the groundnut support price.

Despite repeated requests by speaker Rajendra Trivedi and by finance minister Patel and CM Vijay Rupani when Congress MLAs continued shouting, speaker ordered expulsion of party MLA Harshad Ribadia who was rushing towards his seat after throwing groundnuts in air.

After this Congress MLAs started shouting slogans and later staged walk out.

While Patel on resumption of order in the house said that Congress was unable to digest its defeat and was creating obstacles in smooth journey of development, LoP Paresh Dhanani told newsmen outside the house that BJP despite its 22 year long rule was unable to reach the fruit of development to the poor, dalit, rural folk and farmers etc. He also claimed that BJP government has failed in finding solutions to various problems of people and was indulged in wasting crores of public money on various festivals and other show offs.

Patel on the other hand claimed that BJP was giving such MSP to farmers which was never offered during earlier Congress rule.
