SMC approves Rs 168 crore Tapi river bridge connecting Nana Varachha and Mota Varachha

Surat: Standing committee meeting of Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) on Thursday approved 3.5 km long Rs 168 crore Tapi river bridge connecting Mota Varachha and Nana Varachha areas of city. The project will avail benefit to around 7.5 lakh people who face traffic issues at present. Lowest rate offer of Vijay Mistry agency was approved by Standing Committee for this project. According to Standing Committee Chairman Rajesh Desai the bridge project will involve river bridge, creek bridge and flyover bridge – all three elements. The landing point on Nana Varachha side will be at road to Shri Ramnagar, surpassing Varachha main road and Kalakunj creek.
